A few weeks ago, I got a message from David over at Adayak asking if I'd mind linking to the Adayak website. I don't normally just add links to my page without some thought, so I browsed their website and liked what I saw. Adayak makes t-shirts for people who enjoy outdoors activities.
Three things stood out to me:
The t-shirts are made from 100% organic materials.
They don't have prominent logos on their products. That's a pet peeve of mine.
They donate 1$ from every order to environmental conservation charities.
Then I read Modern Hiker's review of the shirt and I knew I had to have one. I contacted David at Adayak and begged to be sent one to review on my blog. Within a couple of days, I had the shirt in my hand. I asked for a large, since I read that sizing tends to be small.
The shirt initially felt pretty boxy and like it was going to be big on me. It also felt like it could be a little scratchy.
However, organic cotton tends to shrink, so once I washed it, it now has what I'd like to call an athletic fit. Which is nice. From the reviews I read on outdoor gear websites, a lot of outdoor enthusiasts are pretty lanky at 6'2" and 165 pounds, so these shirts should fit them nicely.
It's also super-soft after the initial washing and will likely be my "go-to" shirt for a while, since softness plays a huge part in what I tend to grab from the closet.
For me, at 6' and 200 pounds, I sometimes need to order a size up. If you like your t-shirts loose, I'd recommend doing that.
I am a hiker, and it's nice to be able to wear something that shows off what I do and perhaps spark some conversation without overtly promoting a brand.
They just announced that they added a bunch of new color options for their t-shirts and plan on continually introducing new designs. They also have t-shirts geared towards other activities, like fishing, climbing and kayaking. I wouldn't mind seeing some skiing and sit-on-top kayak fishing t-shirts.
